The world has lost a wonderful compassionate, loving and unique person in Betty Jean.
Betty Jean Kastelic, 88, of Willoughby for the past five years, formerly of Mentor, died Monday June 10, 2013, at Lake Health West Medical Center, in Willoughby. She was born July 1, 1924, in Cleveland.
Mrs. Kastelic was a secretary/homemaker. She was a graduate of John Hay High School class of 1942, and graduated from the former Dyke College. Betty Jean was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in Cleveland Heights, and a Swedish VASA Lodge No. 130 member for 80 years.
Survivors include her children, Ken (Kathy) Kastelic of Mentor and Karen E. Hocevar of Wickliffe; grandchildren, Leonard Kastelic, Kourtney (Bobby) Iorillo, Keith (Mary) Hocevar and Brian (Evanthia) Hocevar; and great-grandchildren, Athena, Alexa and Luke. Preceding Betty Jean in death was her husband, Leonard J. Kastelic; parents, Ivan and Ellen Carlson; and brother, Ivan Carlson Jr.
The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday June 14, 2013, at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave, Mentor. The Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
